Few people know that it is a village field and its neighboring village Strumpi are the only villages in Cyprus, where wild tulips or Tulipa Agenensis (Liliaceae lat. ) and (Toulipa oz.) grow.
Because of which the village is called "The Village of tulips ".
Bright red tulips differ elongated petals and a black spot with a yellow border around the center of the flower  Because of this unusual color tulip field in the popularly called "sun-eye flower." Start in March, gain strength in 10-15 days, with the arrival of May tulips almost fade out.

Today tulips are under threat of death from pesticides that damage the flower bulbs. That is why in 2002 in order to protect these rare flowers in the field was first established the Association for the Protection of tulips. It helps to keep the tulips, near the village of renting the whole field for growing these beautiful flowers
